Questions travelers ask
Can you swim in the Blue Eye near Saranda?
The site is a viewing platform over the spring rather than a bathing place, and the water comes out of the karst cold all year. Most visitors look, walk a little along the Bistrica below it, and move on.
How long does a visit take?
One to one and a half hours is enough, including the two kilometres in from the car park — on foot, or by the golf cart that runs the track.
When is the best time to go?
Early. The site is open all year, and mornings are the quiet hours before the coaches arrive from the coast.
How far is it from Saranda?
About 25 km, roughly thirty minutes by car, on the road towards Gjirokastër. It is usually combined with Butrint and Ksamil in the same day.
