Kruja sits on a hillside above the plain north of Tirana, and the castle at the top is where Skanderbeg held off the Ottoman armies in the fifteenth century. The visit covers the old bazaar, a cobbled street of workshops selling carpets, copper and antiques, the castle itself and its museums, the Skanderbeg museum inside the walls and the Ottoman house museum, with free time for lunch and for the shops.

How far is Kruja from the coast?
Kruja is 1 hour from Tirana and 35 minutes from the airport, so from Tirana the day is seven hours; from Durrës or Golem it is a little further, which is why the day from the coast is planned at eight hours including the visit and free time.
