Tour facts
Highlights
- Korab, 2,764 m, the highest point of both Albania and North Macedonia
- Gjeravica, 2,656 m, officially the highest peak in Kosovo
- The glacial lake below Gjeravica's summit, where the Erenik river rises
- 19 km through the Proslopit Pass, below Zla Kolata (2,534 m), Montenegro's highest
- Four walking days, first in the Korab range, then in the Accursed Mountains
- The boat on Lake Koman, a reservoir on the Drin between vertical canyon walls
Day one is a 09:00 pickup in Tirana, at Tirana Airport or at Pristina Airport, then the drive to Radomire, the base village under Korab. Day two is the big one: Korab, 1,400 m up and 1,400 m down, about ten hours, then the transfer to Gjakova in Kosovo. Day three climbs Gjeravica from Junik, 950 m up and 850 m down in seven hours, past the glacial lake where the Erenik rises, to the summer pastures of Doberdol. Day four walks 15 km down to Ceremi, about six hours.
Day five is 19 km through the Proslopit pass, below Zla Kolata, Montenegro's highest mountain, into the Valbona valley. Day six is the reward: the boat on Lake Koman between the canyon walls and the road to Tirana for the last night, with the airport on day seven. The trails are challenging with water to refill on most days; it needs fitness and proper boots, not climbing experience.
