Langarica Canyon

The Langarica (Lengarica) Canyon is a narrow limestone gorge near the village of Bënjë, about 4 km long, with rock walls over 100 m high. It is a protected natural monument of Albania. The Langarica stream runs through it to the Vjosa, and at its mouth stand the Ottoman Kadiu Bridge and the Benja thermal baths. Walking into the canyon means following the stream between the walls, often in the water.

About Langarica Canyon

Where it is

Near the village of Bënjë, about 13 km from Përmet in southern Albania, beside the Benja thermal baths. Part of Përmet.

How to get there

By road from Përmet to the Benja thermal baths, then on foot into the canyon from the Kadiu Bridge. Our Vjosa rafting day trip and our 8-day horseback riding tour both stop at the mouth of the canyon.

Best time to visit

A warm-weather walk: in summer the stream is pleasant to wade; after heavy rain the water rises.
